Why I Joined DT Properties CO with Jason Carlisle
I have a client closing on this property here a couple acres just west of Golden Colorado - let me know if a moose pops up. Anyways, I wanted to share why I joined eXp and a little bit about my journey.
How I got into real estate
It's Jason Carlisle with eXp Realty. I'm a Colorado native, and I started selling for builders here locally in Metro Denver in 2000, so quite a bit of time spent there was a top producer. If you wanted to make more money or make more of an impact - it was pretty difficult. You were at the builder's mercy; you could:
- Make more phone calls,
- Really try to connect,
- Ultimately listen to the buyers more, and
- Help them out.
Over the years, there were quite a few times were like this one in particular as an example.
Home Selling Gone Wrong
I had about 18 homes in backlog, took me about six months to sell those 18 homes, and they were all a million, give or take. So my commission was around $10-12 grand for each home. Unfortunately, once those started to close, the builder decided they needed help with another area. They pulled me into that area, and they said, "we really need you to give it a go."
So I didn't get any of that commission. Really took the win out of my sails.
I realized I had no control; that's kind of devastating for a family to go through.
New Brokerage, New Problems
I started with a really great brokerage down in Denver. My friend introduced me to them, and I know they gave him a high five and some gift cards, definitely some 'shoutouts'. But he wasn't really reaping any rewards for my efforts - you just basically selling homes for the commission.
We all have the same amount of time; it's going, and it goes quick. There's never enough time for me to do what I want to do. What I want to get accomplished in a day.
A different experience with eXp
Then I started hearing a little bit about eXp with revenue sharing; there was a way for me now to get some other income coming in. I would be able to capitalize on doing the same job, the exact same work. Now, I have stocks, where a percentage of every commission that I have will go towards the purchase of stocks at a discounted rate. For me, eXp answers questions like:
Why not get paid a little bit differently?
Why not put the money back in your pockets?
Why not share this amazing business model with other realtors?
Why not take it into your own hands?
I've been able to branch out and help other realtors see there's a different option out there than just grinding every single day selling homes. Once I saw it, I couldn't unsee it - the difference between that Denver brokerage and eXp.
I would love to answer any questions you have and hop on a call with you.
I'm going to enjoy it out here for another couple of minutes. I hope you have a great day, and once again this is Jason Carlisle with eXp out of Golden Colorado.
